Teaching Style

Students don’t learn by listening. They learn by doing! My online classes utilize the latest technologies to ensure the highest levels of student practice and collaboration possible, all while maintaining a respectful, challenging, and exciting class environment.

How?

Conceptual Mastery

We don’t learn by memorizing shortcuts and tricks. We learn by building strong conceptual foundations and constantly asking “why.” Students are naturally curious and they thrive in learning environments that simultaneously promote their inherent creativity and give them ample opportunities to practice.

Scaffolded Guided Practice

The most common complaint students have is that their teachers show them how to do one thing and their assignments ask them to do something completely different. We pride ourselves on being able to sequence material in a way that is logical and allows for mastery at each step of the way.

Collaborative Learning

Employers want to hire students with strong communication skills and an ability to work well with teammates. Research consistently shows utilizing collaborative learning structures is the best way to nurture these skills while also ensuring strong retention and a conceptual mastery of the material. Our classes are at the cutting-edge of employing collaborative learning in online learning environments.

Parent and Student Enthusiasm:

“After dinner my son asked me if I wanted to see him do a fraction-division problem. I stopped dead in my tracks. NEVER has that happened! Never. He explained how much easier the way you taught it was than the way he’d learned in Montessori. I was speechless. And beyond delighted! Later he asked me if all of his classes could be with you. Easiest. Yes. Ever.” - Parent

“After taking your class, I was actually able to test out of multiple unit exams during my first semester. My teacher was excited by how well I knew the material.” - Student

“I thought your online class was far more effective than my child’s in-person teacher. If I had the option, I’d actually choose your classes over our regular school options.” - Parent

“I really loved how we were able to collaborate and discuss our math with each other as we solved our problems. It really helped me become a better communicator and I think explaining my steps helped me understand the material a lot better.” - Student

“I just don’t think teachers are being trained to teach like this - to use effective collaboration with students and monitoring it to ensure it’s done correctly. I asked my son how he was communicating and sharing his work with his peers, and when he showed me, I was blown away.” - Parent
